The South-West Regional Health Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following position:
HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR

The Hospital Administrator will be required to manage, plan and organize the operations of a large hospital, as well as interpret and ensure the effective implementation of policy decisions of the SWRHA. The incumbent will also be responsible4or formulating hospital policies with considerable independence, initiative and judgement, which is subject to be reviewed by the Management Committee.
He/she will also be required to monitor and ensure the observance of standards, policies and procedures governing recruitment, training, discipline and conditions of service of all categories of employees. The incumbent will also be required to manage the hospital’s financial resources, develop and maintain an adequate accounting system and provide the rationale for the effective utilization of funds. He/she will also be responsible for liaising with department heads, public and private sectors on health and other related issues for the proper functioning and operation of the hospital.
REQUIREMENTS AND TRAINING:

  • A First Degree from a recognized University in Hospital Administration or Health Services Administration, and/or a Medical Degree from a recognized University supplemented by a Diploma in Hospital Administration, or any equivalent combination of qualifications and training.
  • Extensive experience in Hospital Administration,
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of hospital administration.
  • Considerable knowledge in areas such as general administration, financial management, manpower planning, medico-legal laws, hospital lay-out designs, industrial relations and management information systems
  • Ability to plan and direct the operation of the business services of a large hospital and to estimate needs accurately in advance.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in interpreting and implementing administrative policies and procedures,
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of staff and the public.
