Our client, National Quarries Company Ltd, is a state-owned Company situated in North East Trinidad and engaged in the extraction and production of quality aggregate products. The Company is seeking to recruit suitably qualified persons for the position of:
ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER-
TURURE OPERATION
Reporting to the HSSE Manager, the Environmental Officer is responsible for conducting and coordinating functions related to effective performance of the Environmental Management System. Strict adherence to standards and policies set out by ISO14001:2004 is a fundamental requirement.
The Officer assists in maintaining, updating and revising of the EMS and in planning, coordinating and implementing of training programmes and communications in keeping with current legislation, regulations and best practice.
The conduct of environmental audits and maintenance of all supporting documentation and records are essential accountabilities. Specific ongoing monitoring of various stages of operations include suspended solids levels, waste management initiatives, rehabilitation works and air quality and noise levels.
The successful candidate will have a First Degree in Environmental Science/Management or a relevant Engineering or Science Degree and experience in a similar position. Working knowledge of relevant legislation and applicable ISO Standards and Certification as an environmental auditor are required.
Other requirements include:
- At least one year’s experience in a similar job function
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications
- Track record of meeting demanding deadlines and a proactive approach to problem solving.
