PRESS NOTICE

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES – WEBMASTER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the contract position of Webmaster in the Information Technology Unit, in the Ministry of the Attorney General for a period of three (3) years.

Duties and Functions
The incumbent will be required to:

  • Develop and implement concepts, standards and policies for the operation and development of a website and intranet in accordance with the directives from the IT Manager;
  • Maintain and improve the content, functionality and efficiency of the Ministry’s intranet and external website;
  • Evaluate website effectiveness as needed to provide web usage and access statistical reports and make recommendations for improvements;
  • Constantly research new technology as to make strategic recommendations for new applications and participate in the planning and develop of web-based initiatives;
  • Implement search engine optimisation and other web presence techniques for the Ministry’s external website;
  • Use systems technology where possible to automatically develop and deliver content internally via the intranet via the intranet and externally via the website;
  • Document the structure and change to the Ministry’s intranet and external website;
  • Develop the Ministry’s website in a way that responds to users’ expectations and requirements of the system.
  • Interact with Network specialist and other IT staff in order to work through infrastructure and security areas and provide expert advice/guidance on internet related technical issues;
  • Provide support for the accomplishment of the Ministry’s goal and objectives;
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Remuneration
The remuneration package applicable to the position of Webmaster will be determined by the Chief Personal Officer.

Qualification and Experience

Applicants must possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science with at least two years relevant working experience with a related technical certification e.g. CIW or any relevant combination experienced and training;
  2. Knowledge of JSP and/or ASP, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, HTML, DHTML, XML, PHP and JavaScript, IIS and/or Apache, MS Share Point and SQL.

Competencies

The Webmaster should be competent in the following three (3) areas:

  1. Graphical design. The ability to attract a user and draw his/her attention to the website or intranet. The website design must be creative, attractive and original. This can be accomplished by the graphical design of the website, including artwork and graphical layout.
  2. Content. The ability at interpret a situation and select the most relevant information for the situation. He/she must then organise this information that it follows on from previous text, and leads to following text.
  3. Technical Issues. The ability to understand a problem and provide a solution to the problem. He/she should also be able to convert this solution into programming language syntax test the product and deliver a complete solution
