My name is Charissa and I reside in Guyana. After graduating from the University of Guyana in 1996, I began work at the Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation in the lab as a Quality Control Chemist. Here I gathered skills in quality control of raw and manufactured products (analyses), packaging products and good manufacturing practices. During this period I was occasionally involved in the actual manufacture of products. I was later transferred to the Production Department to supervise/manage all activities related to the production of products based on demands and yearly budgets until this position later became redundant.
After this period of employment, I worked at a national research institute as a Research Assistant after which I moved on to the Standards Bureau. Here I was attached to the Codex Secretariat for my country and performed duties of a Technical Secretary gathering relevant information for the various committees and liaising with the Codex Secretariat as necessary.
I then moved on to work with the largest gold mining company in my country-Omai Gold Mines, as a Junior Environmental Officer and presently holds this position. My duty here is to ensure the close monitor of the effects of the company's mining on the environment and staff training in environmental awareness to ensure that procedures are adhered to in a bid to maintain a high work standard and safe working environment.
I am pleasant, easy going but like to be results oriented and hate a lot of talk with no or little action. I am committed to my task and expect to be treated fairly with regards to my job.
