Applications are invited from suitably qualified nationals of Trinidad and Tobago to fill, on contract, two (2) positions of INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST in the REGISTRAR GENERAL’S DEPARTMENT, MINISTRY OF LEGAL AFFAIRS for a period of three (3) and two (2), respectively

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installation and Configuration of servers and application software in a sophisticated network environment.
  • Resolves server, network, hardware and operating system problems
  • Maintains appropriate and current knowledge of IT trends and technology.
  • Maintains in-house database and the automated operations.
  • Supervise the production of reports and statistics.
  • Provides technical support and training to end users.
  • Designs, deploys and manages disaster recover plans.
  • Performance monitoring and systems security.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • At least five (5) years experience working in an IT environment.
  • Experience with Operating Systems such as Windows 2000/2003 Server,
    UNIX/LINUS.

  • Experience in TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience in supporting Oracle relational database management system on the UNIX/LINUS and Window Platforms.
  • Experience in training end users.
  • Certification as an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) and/or Microsoft Certified Professional is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Salary, allowances and other terms and conditions of employment are to be negotiated with the Chief Personnel Officer, Personnel Department.
