PROCESS ENGINEER

BHP Billiton Trinidad & Tobago is now recruiting for the position of Process Engineer in the Surface Engineer Team.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Optimising the efficiency of Process Equipment by identifying bottlenecks through process simulation for current and future production levels.
  • Optimising the topsides production and process system configuration toward continuous improvement initiative.
  • Participating in HAZAN/HAZID/HAZOP/Design Reviews and maintaining the HAZOP system procedures and action status systems.
  • Assessing, reviewing and recommending changes in accordance with Management of Change procedures and implementing approved changes.
  • Supporting the engineering team in the analysis of engineering problems and producing cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Function as a System Custodian to provide assurance for safety critical equipment inclusive of conducting safety inspections of equipment, machinery and processes within area of expertise.
  • Keeping abreast of related process engineering technology and, where appropriate, encouraging the use of relevant, new technologies and ideas on BHP Billiton facilities
  • Coordinating of activities with external support engineering services.
  • Implementing controls to manage environment emissions to within prescribed standards.
  • Reviewing and preparing operating procedures and work instructions.
  • preparing submittals to regulatory and class authorities.
  • Managing the Chemicals Treatment Programme to ensure chemicals usage is optimized.
  • Performing pipeline modeling towards achieving improved performance.

Training and Experience:
This position requires a University degree in Chemical/Process Engineering with a minimum of eight (8) years experience in hydrocarbon in hydrocarbon industry operations.
The candidate must demonstrate a working knowledge of facilities engineering, process equipment, experience in the implementation of risk management and quality management systems, and project management procedures with a working knowledge of project planning and reporting, quality, safety and environmental management systems.
The position may be required to work on a rotational basis of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off OR in an office environment with occasional site trips to the offshore and Terminal facilities. Interested persons are asked to indicate their preference, if applicable.
Knowledge of applicable standards associated with design of both onshore facilities is required but not mandatory.
Knowledge of computer software, including process simulation tools such as Hysys, Pipesim 2000 and OLGA would be an asset.
