CLERICAL OFFICER/LAW CLERK

LAND SETTLEMENT AGENCY
Applications are invited from suitably qualified nationals of Trinidad and Tobago to fill the following vacant positions within the Land Settlement Agency, an Agency of the Ministry of Planning, Housing and Environment.

The Land Settlement Agency is mandated to regularize eligible squatters on State Lands while containing further squatting.

CLERICAL OFFICER/LAW CLERK – LEGAL UNIT

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for performing routine clerical work for the professional or managerial staff of the Legal Unit.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares correspondence, formulates and maintains system for filing storing and retrieving of all files and information both electronic and hard copy.
  • Data entry, e.g. updating databases, timely and accurately.
  • Scheduled “Bringing forward” files, etc.
  • Performs out of office errands, schedules appointments, and arranges a weekly programme.
  • Organizes and maintains an efficient inventory system with respect to all office equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five (5) CXC/GCE ‘O’ Levels, including sound skills in English Language.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess ability to compile, analyze, and present data. Communicate effectively orally and in writing, interact effectively with staff, good human relations, elected officials and the public.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, expertise in typing, shorthand & organization skills.
  • Familiarity with fax machines, photocopiers, printer, etc.
  • Previous clerical experience or working in a legal office will be an asset.
