The South-West Regional Health Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions:
SENIOR REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN
The Senior Refrigeration Technician provides specialist technical expertise in maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning installations and equipment in health institutions, and supervises other maintenance staff in technical activities. The health institutions operate on a 24 hour basis, and accordingly this person may be required to work on shift or "on call" arrangements. The job may involve considerable travelling and fieldwork throughout the region.
The incumbent is required to inspect refrigeration and air conditioning equipment at all SWRHA facilities to determine maintenance, repair and replacement needs, as well as report safety and fire hazards. He/she also consults with the Refrigeration Services Supervisor to develop and plan maintenance strategies and coordinate work schedules for Section staff.
REQUIREMENTS AND TRAINING:
- A Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning from an accredited technical institution.
- Five (5) years' experience as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician with at least (2) years' experience with medium to large systems (100 ton to 400 ton capacity).
- Possession of a valid driver's licence.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, guidelines, and codes standards pertaining to operation, maintenance and repair to refrigeration and air conditioning installations and equipment in health institutions.
- Knowledge of local and international refrigeration and air conditioning codes.
- Knowledge of local and international safety codes and practices pertaining to health institutions.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and project applications.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and instructions.
- Ability to develop and interpret budget estimates and performance criteria.
- Ability to work in elevated locations.
