The Village

Multicultural Village is a simulated Village where a community of youth and adults or adults only from extremely diverse cultural, geographic, ethnic and social groups have the opportunity to engage in PEACE BUILDING by having meaningful contact.

During our Summer and Winter Villages we partner youth with adults who are practitioners in the Peace and Conflict Resolution field so that they will live, learn, grow and experience new ways to address violence and be socially responsible. Youth are called Villagers and adults are called Village Elders to model a traditional Village setting where adults and youth experience mutual respect. We provide the opportunities where youth can discover that their strengths and courage go beyond national, cultural or global patterns and habits. The Village is a place where youth can take a chance to stretch their minds while making lifelong friends across racial and cultural divides, learn vital life skills, create a global impact and have tons of fun.

Multicultural Village is a small local entity with a large global reach. We provide both residential (Camps) and non residential (Experiential workshops and On-site programs) for Communities, Organization or Groups experiencing strife. Our operation is in Boston, Massachusetts but we also function in Trinidad, West Indies and have partners in Central America, Africa, India and the Middle East.

Vision

Our main focus comes from the need to create a safe and secure national and global environment while allowing people to be members of self sufficient and interdependent groups.

We believe that people in the midst of social and ethnic tensoin can be taught how to coexist. This can be encouraged by finding the link between people's personal needs (the things individuals must have to survive) and their global needs (the things that groups must have to survive but can achieve only by sharing resources).
