The National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) is a Special Purpose State Enterprise, which was established by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to manage the delivery of assigned infrastructure projects in the drainage and flood control, reclamation, highway and transportation sectors. NIDCO is expanding its team of professionals and is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to work in the following positions:

PROJECT ENGINEER
The Project Engineer applies specialized engineering knowledge to complex projects with specific reference to designs, costing, scheduling, quality assurance and control, and ensuring that works are constructed in conformance with technical specifications.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops Terms of Reference and prepares contract documents for procurement of consultants and contractors.
  • Negotiates with consultants and contractors for final determination of project costs
  • Evaluate consultants’ reports, contractors’ claims.
  • Undertake Evaluation of Contractor and Consultants for projects
  • Coordinates the inputs of external agencies/stakeholders as they relate to the implementation of projects
  • Attends all meetings of the consultant and contractor.
  • Develops appropriate engineering designs and technical specifications for projects in accordance with accepted engineering and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Prepares Scope of Works and Cost Estimates for projects.
  • Plans, schedules and monitors the implementation of approved engineering projects to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Prepares project schedules and projected cash flow statements for project.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of the fields of Project Management and/or Construction;
  • Engineering and Management as evidenced by the possession of a degree in Civil Engineering and post-graduate training in Project Management/Construction Management.
  • At least eight (8) years experience in infrastructure projects in a public sector environment.
  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Project, AutoCad, Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • A sound working knowledge of FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
  • Must possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Be a good team player.
