INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN SPECIALIST

Distinguishing Features of Work

  1. Prepares and administers the Instructional Development Policy and Regulations for the institution.
  2. Engages specialist knowledge and skills in curriculum development process by working with specialists and instructors.
  3. Reviews existing courseware and analyses new courseware with a view to facilitating design and development of instructional materials.
  4. Convenes and coordinates projects teams to bring about design of instructional material for print-based and distance teaching and learning.
  5. Conducts surveys to collect teacher and learner feedback on suitability of materials.
  6. Conducts periodic workshops with instructors to obtain feedback and provide advice on improvements in instructional design.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  1. MSc. Degree or equivalent level from a recognized institution with relevant coursework and/or thesis in instructional systems design, curriculum, pedagogical methods, training, human resources development or related discipline.
  2. Three (3) years’ professional experience with development of instructional materials.
  3. Knowledge of and/or experience within open and distance learning environments would be an asset.
